California

The flight from St. Louis to Houston was ok. I was going to nurse Liam as we were taking off but because he was supposed to sit with my Grandma a few rows ahead the flight attendant wouldn't let me due to weight issues. But, we had to wait for fuel or something so she brought him back to me while we waited. Throughout the flight she kept telling me that we would most likely miss our connection cause we took off late so I was kinda freaking out. The guy in front of me kept saying she doesn't know what she is talking about you will be just fine. Turns out, the attendant had her watch set for St. Louis time, not Houston so she was an hour off! Crisis averted. Have you ever been to the Houston airport? It is huge! We had to take a train to another terminal after walking forever to get to the train. Needless to say, we speed walked! Grandma boarded the plane with Sophie and I had Liam and the luggage cart with her car seat and the diaper bag. I asked the male flight attendant if I could leave the cart at the door, take Liam to my grandma and come back for the stuff. He looked at me and said, with attitude, you can leave it here. they'll put it under the plane. I said, no I need this stuff on the plane, to put my daughter in the seat and this is my diaper bag. Again, with attitude, he said, you're bringing all of that on the plane? The lady behind me (we were the last to board) asked if she could help me. So very nice since the person who was supposed to help me was being a complete jerk! She took Liam for me while I gathered our stuff. We all were able to sit together on this flight so that was nice. The same flight attendant was pretty much rude throughout the whole flight, to everyone so at least it wasn't just me. He didn't seem to like his job very much.

Anyway, the kids were overall pretty good throughout our travels. I think it was a good 9 hours from hotel to mom's car in California so that's a long time to be good! Once we got everything loaded in the truck I was able to relax! Travelling with small children is no picnic. I am so grateful that Grandma was able to come with us! We went to In and Out for lunch and then home. Nice start to our vacation!!!!

St. Louis

TJ had a very busy rotation during February so the kids and I took a trip to California. Grandma flew out to Quincy to help me fly with the kids. While she was here we took her around the town and to Nauvoo. It was cold so we didn't get out or get any pictures. On Sunday TJ drove us down to St. Louis where we stayed the night for our 7am flight. While we were all down there Grandma took us to the St. Louis Arch. What a magnificent landmark. Gateway to the West.

In the museum
In the "car" that took us to the top. Talk about claustrophobia!
