It is actually a lump. We took her to the eye doctor yesterday and he said that it might be a dermatoid cyst. But, he isn't positive. He said it is most likely nothing serious but the only way to find out what it is for sure is to do a CT Scan with Contrast or an MRI. Do we want to subject our 6 month old to either of those???? The CT Scan will subject her to radiation and a sort of sedative and the MRI will have to be done with her completely put out on anesthesia! Neither of these seem like very good options but we would like to know what we are dealing with. We looked at pictures of her this morning and can see this lump starting with her two month pictures. It has gotten bigger since then. When I asked the doctor what he would do he said that he would just watch it. I feel like that is what we have been doing for two months. Has anyone had to get either of these tests done on their kids? I am curious to know your thoughts.
The doctor also had to dilate her eyes. She did not like that at all. Her pupils were huge! But she got these cool sunglasses!
Awww, poor Sophia! Good luck with all of that. I wish I had some suggestions or ideas, but that is totally out of my realm of experience. Let me know how it all goes!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you asked about tracheal malaysia on my blog. It's when a baby is born, and their trachea is not fully formed, and so instead of holding firm when the baby breathes, it moves, causing the baby to have a difficult time breathing. Pretty scary stuff, but luckily Sydney grew out of it, and is fine and doing well.
Good luck!!
